Executive Chef Desi Szonntagh brings his style, passion and culinary expertise to our Landings Restaurant. His fresh, innovative California Cuisine style delights diners as a result of his philosophy of using fresh ingredients set into unexpected combinations that draw out their essential flavors. Enjoy dining at our comfortable dining room where warm amber lighting sets the tone at night or relax on our outdoor patio, with a view of the pool and charter jets arriving and departing world famous Van Nuys Airport.
Prior to joining the Airtel Plaza Hotel, Desi was the Executive Chef of Le Merigot Hotel in Santa Monica and Executive Sous Chef at Hotel Bel-Air, earning accolades in the pages of Saveur and Los Angeles Magazine. Desi has more than 35 years of experience working as a chef for an impressive roster of fine dining establishments, including Shutters on the Beach, Santa Monica, La Boheme and Le Cirque in New York City. In addition to his extensive experience in these renowned restaurants, Desi was named as a featured chef at the James Beard House. Desi constantly strives to create the perfect culinary creation and enjoys researching culinary history from around the world.
