Feed the Giraffes for Father’s Day

Did you know that giraffes are the world’s tallest ruminant? Or, that their favorite food is the leaves and twigs of acacia, mimosa, and wild apricot trees? Now you can visit the giraffes of the Los Angeles Zoo and feed them all the leaves they want. Supervised feedings by zoo staff members were implemented for these animals over a year ago, and the program has been wildly successful, resulting in both delighted guests and well-fed giraffes. The L.A. Zoo is one of the best places to go for a fun and family-friendly outing, and a giraffe-feeding would make a unique and memorable gift for Dad.

In addition to the giraffes, the zoo is also home to an endangered Sumatran tiger, a flock of flamingos, an array of amphibians, armadillos, bears, chimpanzees, elephants, and more reptiles and invertebrates than you can shake a stick at, along with many more examples of our animal brethren. Be sure to take in the Rainforest of the Americas, the bird gardens, the Elephants of Asia, and the LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles) to provide the best views of the animals.
