Masked Michael Myers Character with Knife in a Scene from John Carpenters movie Halloween

Flick Tricks or Cinematic Treats

We love Halloween – the costumes, the candy, but, most of all, the scary movies. We know you love ‘em too, so we’re listing three fabulous opportunities for an epic, blood-curdling, binge-watch. Whether it’s a film fest selection or a classic offering, be warned - some are creepy, some are kooky, but most of them are wicked spooky! First, get your eerie on early at the 18th Annual L.A. Shriekfest at Raleigh Studios on October 4-7. You’ll be treated to such selections as 2017 winners, “The Glass Coffin,” “The Things They Left Behind,” and “The Heebies.”

Next, check out Screamfest on October 9-18 at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres. Popularly known as the “Sundance of Horror,” Screamfest is the largest and longest-running horror film festival in the country. This year will see some classic chillers in addition to the fest offerings. Lastly, many of your beloved Halloween favorites will be presented by Rooftop Cinema. October 26 will bring a double bill of “The Witches” (1990) and “Hocus Pocus” (1993), along with additional October screenings of time-honored scream flicks, such as “Alien,” (1979), “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre,” (1974) and, what else but, “Halloween” (1978).
